About This Report
At 135 pages, NBI/Michael Sone Associates'
Canadian Voice Mail/Unified Messaging Market Report, 2000 Edition is the
sixth in NBI's series of reports on this market. While, because of
industry consolidation, the number of participants has decreased, the
depth of each profile has been substantially augmented to reflect more of
the business issues important to each company.
A millennium snapshot of a growth industry, this report
examines the convergence of messaging technologies and market trends
contributing to the viability of unified messaging. It is not unusual for
users to have more than one telephone line, a fax line, an e-mail account,
a mobile telephone and a pager. The increase in the number of message
types and accounts maintained by individuals presents a challenge in
message management. At the same time, more mobile workers and
telecommuters require remote access to all their messages from anywhere at
anytime. The inevitable trend toward unified messaging is discussed along
with the next step in the evolution of messaging - unified communications.
There are qualitative and quantitative profiles of 11
manufacturers that discuss issues such as product development &
evolution, marketing strategies, distribution activities and future
directions. In addition, there are analyses of five organizations in the
voice information services market sector, detailing their positioning in
their respective markets and the services offered. The report contains 18
exhibits that quantify the market and compare the various manufacturers
along dimensions, which include system and port shipments, end-user
revenues, installed base, and segmentation by system size, region and
distribution channel.
The information contained in the report is the product
of extensive primary research. Principal sources include interviews with
manufacturers and service providers.
